Insurance Coverage

Extended Health Benefits: The vast majority of extended benefits plans (ie. Sun Life, Blue Cross, DesJardins, Canada Life, Manulife, etc.) cover some or all costs associated with individual counselling sessions provided by an RCC or OT. If you intend to seek reimbursement for the cost of sessions under a group plan, please check with your employer or benefits plan to ensure the coverage criteria includes RCCs/ OTs.

If your plan does not cover RCCs/OTs but does cover Psychologists, Social Workers, and/or Counsellors with other designations, you can make a request to your employer through the Human Resources Department to adjust the plan to include RCC designation. Many employers are not aware that making this change is easy and can be done at no extra cost to them. Click here to download a template to help with this. Receipts are issued via email and may be needed for health plan reimbursement or as a medical expense toward your personal income tax.

ICBC: If you have a recent claim with ICBC, you are eligible to receive funding for 12 counselling sessions through ICBC within 12 weeks of the MVA. PLEASE NOTE THAT AS OF APR 1, 2024, ICBC will cover $147 toward each counselling session, up from $141.75. Please check with your adjuster to confirm that coverage is available for your situation.

  • If you work with RCCs Thea or Sarah, who are approved ICBC providers, $147/ session will be direct billed to ICBC for you and you will simply pay the difference ($21 Thea/ $10.50 Sarah).

  • If you work with RCCs Ashley, Vanessa, Adriana, you will pay their full current fee up front (see above) and will then submit your receipts to ICBC for reimbursement of the amount ICBC covers.

  • If you have an older ICBC claim, you may still be eligible for some coverage for sessions with Thea or Sarah. Please check with your adjuster prior to scheduling a consult to discuss this, and be prepared to provide your claim number, adjuster's contact information, date of accident, and a note from your doctor.

CVAP: RCCs Thea, Vanessa & Adriana are approved Crime Victim Assistance Program Providers. If you have approval for counselling through CVAP, you pay out of pocket and can submit your receipts to CVAP for reimbursement. At this time, CVAP reimburses clients $135/ session, while the full cost per session including GST is $157.50 with Adriana, $141.75 with Vanessa, and $168 with Thea.
